"Le Macassar" (Corbie) - where we stayed for our Somme visit.

Ian and Miguel - our super hosts - with "Spats"

At the end of each day's driving around the Somme battlefields, Ian and Miguel were ready with superb wines and nibbles, and we all relaxed here before Boak and I walked across the square to dinner at the local pub.

These photos show the Billyard Room, on the top floor of the house, with the decorator's meticulous attention to detail.

By the entrance foyer, there is a folly of a room - the Moroccan Room. Apparently in the 1930's there was a fashion for all things Eastern, and this room is a superb example of its kind.

This sitting room is decorated in the earlier Art Nouveau style.
This was our splendid - and very large - bathroom

These photos show our elegant, comfortable sitting room and bedroom areas of our suite at "Le Macassar"
Boak was tired after a day of driving! The trees seen through the window are in the town square.
